Saturday, July 13: Action at the Democratic Governor’s Association Meeting
We got our man!
Part of our goal in Aspen on July 13, was to debunk myths and use humor to show the true damage of fracking to public safety and the environment. Boulder County kids created a pretend Fracking Fluid Expo representing fictional fracking fluid companies with names like L.I.A.A.R.S. and prepared hand-made signs listing the very real toxins produced during the fracking process. We found a Governor Hickenlooper look-a-like and made him pay for the damage already done by fracking. In Aspen, we pulled him out of his meeting, placed him under arrest (at least a perfect double of the Governor) and hauled him off to jail. It was a great day for Colorado!

If you missed the Boulder screening of “Gasland Part II” with special guest appearance by director Josh Fox, you’ll be able to see this powerful film on HBO on July 8. Check back here re attending a private home showing.
Gasland Part II is the sequel to Josh’s Sundance award-winning documentary on the dangers of natural gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing. This movie is an important wake up call for Boulder and Boulder County residents as the moratorium on fracking in Boulder County ends on June 10.
Tuesday May 21 - Boulder County Commissioners Failed to Protect Us
At this public meeting, the Commissioners decided to not extend the moratorium on oil and gas drilling, despite overwhelming public testimony requesting that public safety data be obtained before allowing fracking on our land. If you have not written to the Commissioners, please let them know your opinion at email@example.com.

Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon Lead a Bus Tour Through Fracking Country
In photo (right), Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon speak with resident Ray Kemble (in plaid shirt), a former gas company worker whose water became contaminated after drilling took place 500 feet from his home in Dimick, Pennsylvania. Kemble displays his contaminated well water to Arun Gandhi (grandson of Mohandas Gandhi), Ono, Lennon and Susan Sarandon. “Do you think this water looks safe enough to drink?” said Ono. See Rolling Stone photos of the bus tour.
Boulder City Council agrees to study if the City Code has any protection against fracking within Boulder city limits or on city-owned Open Space. Frack Free Boulder attended the City Council Retreat where our letter to City Council helped place fracking on the 2013 Retreat Agenda and 2013 Work Plan.
