Energy & Water Production, Recycling, Usage

As was noted in our discussion of the project philosophy, OlaBrisa has been designed with the areas of sustainability and green building in mind.

While we expect to tie into the municipal electric power grid, Olabrisa plans to utilize photovoltaic panels to generate most, if not all, of its electricity power requirements.  These systems will be supplemented by backup propane gas
powered generators, so that OlaBrisa will have the ability to operate without need of external power.

Cooking will be done using propane.

While we have access to water from both the municipal water system and to the ejido irrigation water, we expect to take advantage of our location next to the ocean to produce a substantial portion of our water via desalination.

We will have storage capacity in underground tanks to store enough water on site for 10 days usage at normal rates, and will filter, treat, and test our own water.

All of our waste water – both gray water from the showers, sinks, etc. and black water from toilets -- will be treated to irrigation standards and then used to maintain the landscaping, enabling us to recycle all of our water.

Consistent with our approach of “walking the talk”, we plan to document as much of our energy and water usage as possible in order to demonstrate the actual efficiencies and use reductions which OlaBrisa achieves.
